Assessing Prior Knowledge: If you were teaching this
with the targeted grade level students
◦How would prior experience have been assessed?
I
would assess prior knowledge by asking the students to identify number from 1
to 20 with the number being out of order or sequence. Another way would be to
ask the students if they know simple addition problems like for example: 3+1 =
4 or maybe 2+3=5. I expect my students to be able to count from 1 to 20, an example:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, to 20. Students also should be capable of adding and
subtracting simple word problems, for example 5+2 = 7 or 9-4=5. The information
above would be useful in my planning process, so if need be to review counting
and basic adding and subtraction problems I will review previous lesson and
make sure the students are able to count, add and subtract before the next
lesson.
2. Plans Instruction: Discuss how your goals,
objectives, and outcomes are
As
a teacher my goals and objective for the students is ensuring they are capable of
adding and subtracting word problems.
Taking away, putting together, taking apart and comparing each
problem. All students will be able to
count from 1 to 20. These goals are aligned with the Arizona Common Core
standards.
3. Designing Instruction: Include a link to your
lesson plan and discuss how your instructional design
Start
of the lesson by going over what the objective is and explain to the students
what they will learn and what the teacher expects out of them. Review of
vocabulary words. Briefly going over why counting is important in your everyday
life. For example: Counting helps us spend our money. Counting is fun and so
forth.
Before
technology is used in this lesson, I will briefly go over the vocabulary words
and explain why counting is important. Explain to the students what subtraction
and addition is. Lastly, allow students to on the ipad to use software
pixie. Have them create their own word
problems and record themselves say the word problems. Sharing the work with neighbors.
4. Planning
Assessment: Embed or link to your assessment tools and describe how you will
demonstrate
Ending
my lesson and reviewing how each student was graded was on observation, and making
sure students are able to count, subtract and add. While sharing with neighbors
the teacher will be observing and asking question to ensure the students are
able to create a word problem and solve it as many ways as they can and share
it with the other students. While sharing it I would like them to explain how
they got the answer.
